Funny because a beer in SanFran, NYC, & Miami costs like 6-8 dollars. The reasons:
- Higher Business & Property Tax
- Higher Minimum Wage
- Higher commercial rent
- Higher real estate price
So beer is really cheaper in rural areas. Regardless it’s an interesting map.
Whether you’re planning a cross-country pub crawl or just wondering how much more that Guinness would cost if you lived in Nashville, you’ll find some useful info in the Tax Foundation’s state-by-state map of America’s excise taxes on beer. The short takeaway: Thrifty drinkers are best off in Wyoming and worst off in Tennessee, which may explain why Music Row keeps cranking out songs about crying in your beer. via http://reason.com/blog/2013/05/10/a-map-of-americas-beer-taxes
