Larry the cable guy says git'er done w/o cable

These are easy ideas to save big with cable tv.  You will still need internet though, which is usually from your cable provider. Give it a try.  Even if you don't like it, when you cancel your cable and resubscribe you get better deals.  Cable always offers better deals to sign up, which you cannot do when you are subscribing to them. Digital TV It is just an HD antenna. Boxee It provides you a lot of channel options that you pay for "a la carte." It costs around $150 . The downfall is that HBO and Showtime require cable subscription. Or you can get most of the show via Netflix. Roku A Roku is between $50 or $99.  Roku offers Hulu (Boxee does not).  From experience, Roku is better with NetFlix than Nintendo Wii. Apple TV It costs about $99, but like most apple products, it's proprietary. "The disadvantage is that Apple wants you to exclusively use iTunes to get content." You could save $800 a year. Smart TV They are new TV's equipped with Internet capabilities. You don't need a Roku or a Boxee to internet channels. read the rest: Save $900 on Cable | Financially Fit - Yahoo! Shine

HD Roku and HD antenna.  With Rocku you can get Hulu.  With the antenna, you don't miss football games (unless you live in the sticks).  This link shows you what channels you can get with an antenna: An Ultimate TV Antenna Selector for US/Canadian States and Cities
